When I arrived at this shoot and saw the matching dresses these two had on, I melted, and with each outfit change, things just got better. Ava and Audrey were pretty much the dream subjects for any photographer. Just by their beautiful look and their love for the camera, I felt like my job for the day could not have been easier. Honestly, I felt like I was in the midst of shooting a spread for Crew Cuts (J.Crew for kids) and enjoyed every second of it. I also loved that my little assistant was well looked after by their mama as we trekked through the park.

I knew from the moment Dusty and Gina asked for me to shoot their photos (during the Bobcat tailgate) that their session and the end result would be something extra special. Everything about the afternoon fell into place better than I ever could have dreamed...their attire, their positive attitudes, their affection/love for one another, the scenary, the weather, the lighting. A photographers dream - at least this photographers dream.

Congratulations Dusty and Gina on your engagement - Steve and I can't wait to come back to Bozeman next July and shoot your wedding at the beautiful red barn. I'm sure we'll end up recreating a few of these photos...just a bit more dressed up!

Summer Lovin' - Family Photoshoot

A couple of weeks ago I met up with the adorable Erickson family in Bellevue for a fun summer shoot. Besides for loving their darling little boys blonde combover, the first thing I thought when I saw him was "this is the exact way my little boy will be dressed." The afternoon was quite eventful - we talked bargain shopping for kids clothing (I have a slight obsession), realized we know about five people in common, were yelled at by a park employee for 'trespassing' in a pasture, went for a dip in the stream and kept the little guy fascinated with a plastic duck we found on the trails. Perfect way to spend a hot afternoon.

My poor photography blog has been a bit neglected lately so I figured it was time to catch up and add photos from shoots I've done over the past couple of months. I wish I had the extra time to post after each shoot, but there sometimes just aren't enough hours in the day. From each shoot, I come away with new ideas and get quite excited for each upcoming session. Carsen { 13 Months }

When we shot photos of this handsome guy at 6 months, the temperature hovered around 40-45 degrees. Thankfully, for the 1 year photos, the weather had improved to a whopping 65 degrees. Meeting up with my friend Stacy and her smiling, blonde haired, blue eyed babe at the park was the perfect spot for a morning shoot. Unlike the 6 month photos, Carsen was on the move so being at the park gave him free reign to roam wherever he liked and we simply followed behind and caught up on each others lives. My day was better because of this happy guy - he smiled, laughed and made noises only a mama can understand and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I had the pleasure of meeting Finley and her wonderful parents at their house in Woodinville a few weeks ago. From the looks of this darling baby girl, you'd probably never guess she was six weeks premature and nearly two months old in these photos. After mom spent a month on bedrest, Finley made an early debut and melted her parents hearts. So tiny and so sweet - slept like she hadn't slept in days and was alert and awake at other moments. Already looking forward to seeing how much she changes at her six months photos.

After doing photography for a couple of years now, I finally had my first chance at a twins photoshoot. Never did I imagine how difficult and how much fun a shoot with twins would be. Difficult in the sense that it was near impossible to get a shot of both girls looking at the camera...at the same time...without one or the others hands in their mouths. I was over this obstacle real quick and enjoyed spending two hours following these darling girls through the park. As a 1st birthday gift, Allison purchased a photography session for her two adorable nieces, Ana & Elisa or in her words "the most adorable twins girls - ever." Can't wait to capture more of these beautiful girls at auntie Allison's wedding in July.

Zachary { 2 Months }

This darling baby boy, along with his mama, flew 3,000 miles to meet his extended family for the first time last week. I was anxious to take his photos, but I wasn't quite sure what to expect considering the time change, flying, feeding schedules, etc, but he proved any of my preconceived thoughts to be false and was 100% perfect. Zachary was an excellent little guy with his big blue eyes, blonde hair, chubby cheeks and full belly. Hard to believe he's two months, right?

It pains me to write that it's been almost a month since my last post, but I've been completely swamped. There really is no excuse for my lack of posts, other than I'd prefer to get into bed before midnight and editing usually lasts until that point.
I've now completed Carson's newborn, 6 month and one year photos. It amazes to me to see how much a child can change from just the 6 month point to one year (or in this case 13 months) - he now resembles a little a man. Carson, his mama (my friend Becki) and I had a great afternoon wandering around my neighborhood taking photos and topped off the night with a BBQ steak dinner. Carson is such a funny guy in the sense that he absolutely can not stand to have his bare legs, feet or hands touch bare ground if he doesn't have a blanket to sit on. He remained happy the entire time and only shed one tear, which was captured in the 6th photo down - such a precious sad face he has.

I was contacted by Allison a couple of months ago to see if we were available to shoot her wedding this July. We had never met, but I knew from our connection that I would love to work with her and her fiance. Allison is marrying Bert who is my friends brother-in-law. Remember this family? Bert is the younger brother of Ole (the dad in these photos) who is married to my friend Kylie. Confused yet? We met up a couple of weeks ago for the engagement shoot, which ended up falling on a perfectly sunny and warm spring day. These two were wonderful to work with - so in love, so cute, so perfectly tall (a step-stool may be accompanying Steve and I to the wedding), so photogenic and so much fun...

{ Baby } Brother & { Big } Sister

Please meet beautiful little Lilie and her darling brother Hudson - honestly, could these two be any cuter?? From the instant I started snapping photos, I could tell that Lilie adored Hudson...and the camera - making life easy for me and mom & dad. A couple of Saturdays ago, I was lucky enough to capture these two...outdoors in their yard and at Point Defiance...YES, it was warm enough in February to take a few photos outside with a 2 week old and a 2 1/2 year old in a tutu and short-sleeves. We truly lucked out with the sun in the perfect spot and a just enough warmth to prevent blue lips and chattering teeth.

Sweet Baby { Girl }

My friends Katy and Tyler welcomed their first child two weeks ago - precious little Robyn. I had the honor of shooting her newborn photos at 7 days old and can say from just the couple of hours that I spent with her, she's absolutely perfect. Going into a newborn shoot, I have always hoped that I'll be able to capture photos of both the baby asleep and awake. After this shoot, my hopes have changed as Robyn was wide-awake the entire time and made my job quite simple. She was definitely ready for her first first official photoshoot.

Remember those days of partial sun and no rain? If you live in western Washington, you've probably gotten used to the fact that January has been been crummy...weather-wise. Thankfully, two weeks ago, the weather cooperated and I was able to meet up with the Gilfillan family in Georgetown to capture some photos of their adorable family. My first thought when I saw the four of them was that they had just stepped out of a J.Crew catalog and sure enough little Addie's darling cardigan is from Crew Cuts. And Finn's little sweater - I love it!

I met up with this sweet family a couple of weeks ago for a fall family shoot. As you know, I love photoshoots with kids, but I'm truly loving the shoots with the entire family as I enjoy watching the interaction between the parents and the children. This little guy, Evan, was on a constant move the entire time and quite talkative. I chased him around while his mom followed close behind and got him to make silly faces and laugh. And anyone out there that is looking for a future spouse for their daugthers...Evan is taken - you'll be seeing his future wife in an upcoming post.

A couple of months ago, my dear friend Lauren came to me with a pretty cool request. She asked if I would be willing to donate a photography session for an auction she was hosting, with her guild, that was to benefit the Seattle Children's Hospital. Of course I agreed - mostly because I could never turn down an opportunity to raise money for Children's considering all that they do for our community and all that they did for my wonderful brother-in-law who considered Children's his second home 14 years ago when he was sick with Leukemia.
I don't think I could have hand-picked a more adorable family to be the recipients of this auction item session. Despite the chilly fall temperatures out at Gas Works Park, little Hayden was trooper - I just love his little smile.

Fun at the Pumpkin Patch

Baby Carson, at 6 months old, makes just about the cutest little pumpkin I've ever seen. I love that his mamma (my dear friend Becki), had the idea to dress him up as a pumpkin and take him to the patch for a photoshoot. This shoot, in particular, was a lot of fun because Steve joined us and was able to see me at work - when it came to the props and photo ideas, he was the best assistant. We had a great time catching up with Becki and her family - Carson's grandparents visiting from Omak were able to get in on some of the action as well.

Miss Addison :: 2 Years Old

First question, where have the past two years gone? Second question, how is this baby girl growing up so fast? Third question, Baby GAP - are you in need of a model? If so, no need to look any further as Miss Addi is perfect in front of the camera. I mean, come on... look at her perfect little face, her pouty lips, her kissable cheeks, her dimple, her gorgeous eyes, long lashes - honestly...she has the features that many women pay the big bucks for. Aside from her priceless features, she is the happiest two year old - she loves to chat (albeit sometimes difficult to understand) and her laugh is contagious - two of my most favorite qualities in a girlfriend...I have a feeling this little girl and I will be friends for a lifetime...even if she's taller than me at age 10.

During my trip to Bend, I had a chance to spend a couple of hours taking photos of Kylie, Ole, Jadyn and Jake. As most of you know, Kylie is Meghan's (from this shoot) older sister - could the genetics for this extended family be any more perfect? I think not. I've known Kylie and Ole for about ten years now and have loved watching their family grown. They're the perfect partners and even better parents. I smile when their kids call me Coffey and can't wait for the day to meet their second baby boy. I love how much Jadyn looks like her daddy and how Jake is a boy of endless faces and expressions.

At first glance you may assume these are engagement photos, but this couple has actually been married for a couple of years. I'm calling this one a lifestyle shoot. Kate contacted me "just because" she felt like she and her husband didn't have any good photos together, which I find hard to believe as I think the two of them are perfectly photogenic. She swore up and down that she just didn't love their wedding photos and wanted something she could hang in their house and possibly use as a Christmas card. I'm so happy she contacted me (as I hadn't seen her in years) and that I was able to meet her sweet husband. Maybe I'm biased, but red heads are just so fun to shoot in the fall.

Choosing a favorite photo from the hundreds that were taken of this gorgeous family would be like asking which of these two beautiful babies I love more. Shooting photos of these four honestly make me feel - giddy, anxious, nervous (I oftentimes lose sleep before shoots with millions of thoughts running through my mind), excited, etc, etc, etc...because I know that no matter what I do, the photos are going to be beautiful - doesn't take a lot of work on my part....

When I first got into photography, I used Ava as my model - I'd think of poses, outfits, scenes and just go with it - today, I don't think she loves when I come around with my big camera, but I know that one-day she'll appreciate these photos and be content with all of the grueling hours that I chased her around with the lens in her face.

Please meet { for the second or third time }, some of my most favorite people in the world - Galen, Meghan, Ava and Miles...Enjoy.

Many thanks go to Galen for being such a trooper. I've promised him the next time I come to town, I won't request his participation...we'll see how long this truth holds up with Meghan.

The Samuel Family :: Bend, OR

During my weekend getaway to Bend, I was able to do a few photoshoots. To do this shoot with the Samuel family, I suggested that we head out to one of my favorite spots in all of Bend - Shevlin Park - love this place and truly enjoyed meeting this sweet family. I've found throughout the past year, that the dads in the family shoots are much more relaxed and laid back than I had ever really anticpated and one of my most favorite things in the world is to watch a dad interact with their new babies...to me, it's one of the most beautiful things. The love that these two parents have for their baby boy is beyond words. And p.s. don't you just love his fuzzy little (100% natural) mohawk?

Meet precious baby Gavin - all 7 pounds of him. I met this handsome baby boy when he was just five days old and I have to say everything about this { last } summer evening was perfect and I enjoyed every second of it. I loved it so much that I almost ditched meeting up with husband for a concert to take more photos. He slept the entire time and cried only once when his mamma tried to swaddle him. Gavin may appear to be in one of the tiniest weight classes, he's got guns - so strong that he was able to act like an escape artist and break-free from the swaddle!

A couple of weeks ago on a perfectly sunny weekend, I met up with little Tanner and his parents at Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island for his two year old photo shoot. He was full of energy the entire time and tough to keep my lens on, but in the end I managed to get quite a few fun photos of him. I love how his adorable litte smile lights up his entire face.

A couple of weeks ago I met up with Christina and Tony at their home in Federal Way and then ventured down to Redondo Beach in Des Moines for their maternity shoot. Christina received a gift card from her girlfriends for this shoot and was really looking forward to it and thankfully for a scheduling conflict, we were able to take photos on a perfect late summer evening with the best lighting and temperatures. Minus a sleeping sea otter that randomly appeared in some of our photos, the night was a lot of fun. Here is a peek into just a few of the couple hundred of photos that were taken.

Ava { 1 Year Old Photos } - Mercer Island, WA

This sweet baby girl had the most stunning blue eyes I have yet to see on a child - with the combination blonde hair + blue eyes she is pretty darn precious. I met up with Ava and her parents for her first birthday photos and she was a lot of fun. I was quite surprised she sat down in the gravel and started playing so I sat down with her and continued shooting until she was distracted by either a dog or another kid. It's funny how intrigued/mesmerized kids are by the smallest things.

I have an idea that I wished I had used for this shoot, but will have to save it for my next 1 year old shoot.

The Sievers Family { Indianola, WA }

Back in early May I did a photoshoot with the Sievers family and their 2-week old baby girl, Lauren. A couple of weeks ago, I had another opportunity to do a photoshoot with the three of them at my aunt and uncles house in Indianola. As a birthday gift to my cousin Lisa, her best friend Natalie (Sievers) paid for a photoshoot for both families to have their photos taken as well as a friend shoot with the two of them and their babies. I'm always amazed by how much a baby changes in just a few short months. Lauren was so much fun and hung in there for me longer than most 5-month olds.

I did the maternity photoshoot of Delane and Kevin and the tag that read "Do Not Open Until September 4"? Well, much to her parents surprise and after a lot of hard work, Parker decided to arrive over a week early so her very first photoshoot actually happened on her due date! I had told Delane months ago that I would love to do newborn photos of Parker, but had no clue that I would end up having my most favorite newborn session, to date. This is partly due to the fact that she is pretty much a perfect baby, but also because I was able to spend almost an entire day with her. I was there while she slept and was awake, when she ate, she pooped, she cried and when she smiled in her sleep when her mama held her. Congratulations D and Kev - you two are the most perfect parents for your beautiful baby girl.

The Fitzpatrick Family { Redmond, WA }

In all photo session cases, it's the mom that contacts me, but in this case the dad reached out to request photos be taken of his adorable 6 month old daughter - I thought that was pretty cute. Meet the Fitzpatrick's with their newest addition, Siena (named after the beautiful town in Italy where mom studied abroad). I had fun spending a couple of hours with this sweet family out at Marymoor Park - I think I've mentioned this before, but definitely a great spot for photos. I'm excited to see how coloful the grounds will be during Fall. Enjoy!

The Bramble Wedding { Gearhart, Oregon }

This post is long overdue, but I know that it's always better a tad late than to go un-posted. All of these photos were taken by my lovely husband/photography partner - didn't he do an awesome job? As I was busy taking care of bridesmaid duties, he shot a couple thousand photos of this gorgeous couple. As I've mentioned before, Kristi and Todd are the perfect couple and we could not have felt better about having them as our first wedding shoot. Steve's job was almost too easy with how stress-free and relaxed these two are - Enjoy!

The { growing } Johnson Family

Delane & Kevin will be giving birth to their baby girl, Parker Lilly, in the next few weeks in Wenatchee and I can hardly wait! The two of them, so graciously, allowed a few of us to stay at their gorgeous home this past weekend and in turn allowed me to take a few { hundred } photos of their bun in the oven. Being that this was only my second maternity shoot, I have to say that the one thing that impresses me most is the patience that both soon-to-be fathers have had throughout the shoots - honestly makes my job that much easier.

The other thing about this shoot that I was amazed by was the smoothness of Delane's belly - zero touch-ups have been made to her bare belly in these photos. She swears up and down that all credit must be given to her two "weapons," Bella B Tummy Honey Butter and Bella B Silk & Honey - when my time comes, I will ABSOLUTELY be purchasing these two items.

Sisters :: Part II

This was my third photo shoot with Hayden and my second with both Katie and Hayden together (plus a few with Gus the dog). Taking photos of these two is so much fun because it gives me a chance to capture two adorable girls and to catch up with their mom/Lexi. I was in shock at how grown up Hayden is - I laughed pretty hard when I heard her say (in somewhat valley girl slang) "oh my gosh you guys" - ha! During this shoot, I also discovered a great new backdrop for some summertime photos - the Clise Mansion at Marymoor Park in Redmond and the community pea patch. It was still a bit bright in places to be shooting at 6pm, but I would imagine the early morning and later evening on a clear night would be ideal.

A Little Backyard Fun...

...with Riley (almost 3) & Owen (10 weeks). Just the eyes on these two boys were enough to melt my heart - these two were all around handsome. Riley pretty much went along wih his typical summer day, playing in the backyard and I followed alongside taking photos. We played a little baseball, hung out in a wagon, played golf, filled a bucket with bubbles and made the most of the HOT (about 95 degees) evening. Having Owen outside was a bit hard due to the high temps, but we managed to get a few shots of this adorable baby boy.

I can't get over how much this baby girl has changed since her first photo shoot at the beginning of March. Her kissable cheeks, her big blue eyes, the rolls in her arms, her smile are all just to die for. And how cute is the tutu with a naked belly?? I have to give a shout out for the tutu designer at Sweet Marguerite because they're local and make such adorable tutu's. Amelia's mom found her ad through her Etsy shop (which I LOVE), realized she was local so she went direct to her shop to pick this tutu up for the shoot.

While in Bozeman, I did a photoshoot with Jeff, Ali, Brady and their newest adorable addition Olivia. Jeff and Ali are incredible parents and were perfect at keeping Brady entertained while we worked to capture the perfect shots. Brady is already an excellent big brother to Livvy, but didn't quite allow for us to take photos of just the two of them - there were just too many distractions to keep him preoccupied.

Bath Time { with Brady }

I've been wanting to do this shoot for quite some time and while in Bozeman I realized that Brady was the perfect model to do a little test. While visiting at Ali and Jeff's house, I saw this bucket outside, imagined filling it with bubble bath, letting a kid go to town and snapping as many photos as possible. In this case, 61 total photos were taken of this sequence. All of these were shot with my 50mm f/1.8 - in my mind the aperture was not set exactly to my liking, but the evening lighting with the sun so low was ideal. Most importantly, Brady had a blast and couldn't stop laughing. At one point, he invited one of the adults to join him, scooted his little buns to the side of the tub and said "come on it!"

While in Bozeman, I did my very first maternity photoshoot with Jon and Paige who are expecting their baby girl in less than a week. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous at first, but these two made the shoot perfect. They were both so relaxed - laughing and joking the entire time - which made my job all that much easier. Plus they're gorgeous and were constantly smiling. They're so excited for their little arrival and I just know that they're going to make amazing parents.

On Saturday, July 4th, Kristi and Todd Bramble tied the knot in Gearhart, Oregon in a truly extaordinary, beautiful, laid-back wedding. These two are very relaxed and easygoing individuals and those are the exact feelings that were felt by everyone around them on Saturday. If there is a word for the opposite of a bridezilla, that is the word we would use to describe Kristi - she did not have a worry in the world on Saturday and cared most that their friends and family enjoyed themselves, which is exactly what everyone did.

Steve and I can't wait to get through the couple thousand photos that he took througout the day and look forward to sharing them with you. For this being Steve's first wedding shoot, he did an outstanding job. Be sure to check back later for additional photos.

On Saturday morning I met up with Megan, Addi, Megan's sister-in-law, Amy and her two sons, Glen and Chase who were in town from Virginia visiting family for a couple of weeks. Addi just recently met her two cousins and just loves being around them. Megan and Amy set up this photoshoot with the hopes of getting a few frameable shots for the kids grandma - I'd consider it a success. Although, I have to say that out of all of the photos I've taken of Miss Addi, she was the least interested in this shoot and would rather pet all of the doggies at the park as she is in LOVE with every dog she meets.

The blue eyes on this beautiful baby boy along with his charm can light up a room - I know because I see the way everyone around him smiles when he comes around. At six months old, he is a little man, with a ton of energy, huge lungs and many different faces. He chatted/screamed/squeeled with his mom and I the entire time we hung out. He wasn't so much interested in smiling for the camera, but the minute his mom tickled his belly he was all smiles for her, but made it nearly impossible for me to catch.

Ava 2 1/2 & Miles 7 weeks :: Two of my most favorite children in the world
I was madly in love with this little boy long before I held him for the first time this past Saturday. He's perfect and he melts my heart. Ava has always had me wrapped around her finger, but she could have cared less about this photoshoot even with the chocolate bribes. So, instead of capturing my "dream" photos of Ava and Miles that I've been thinking about since he was born, I spent most of my time getting to know Miles - no complaints here.
